From T.G. Green we have an oversize cup and saucer in the beautiful hand-painted and spongeware pattern Oakville. A floral design of petals and leaves has been applied to the cream base and then covered with a glossy glaze.
The famous firm of T.G. Green & Co. Ltd. operated from the village of Church Gresley, South Derbyshire from 1864 to 2007. They are, of course, best known for their blue and white striped kitchenware brand Cornishware which was first introduced in the 1920s.
This gorgeous Oakville pattern is a world away from the famous stripes and is not too easily found.
