This fabulous oriental patterned and gilded Indian Tree cake plate with its six side plates comes from the stable of William Hudson who traded from the Alma Works in Longton from c.1869-1892 and then at the Sutherland Pottery from c.1892-1941.
Hand-painted on transfer on a bone china base and finished in a honey glaze. Richly gilded to all rims, edges and the tabbed handles. Pattern number 2461.

Some minor rubbing to the gilding and a couple of tiny spots on the rims missed by the gilder which feel slightly rough to the touch. One of the plates has a tiny flake to the rim. These are mentioned for completeness.
Backstamps include maker's mark from 1936 and Gilder's mark.
