From Paragon we have an open sugar bowl in the Belinda pattern with its pretty and dainty flowers and leaves on a pure white gently fluted body. Finished in a glossy glaze. Richly gilded to rims on the top and foot. A most pleasing and elegant design.
The Star China Company - one of the Staffordshire potteries - was founded in 1897 as a partnership between Herbert Aynsley (the great-grandson of the founder of Aynsley China) and Hugh Irving. They traded only from 1900 until 1919 using the trading name of Paragon. In 1919 the company name was changed to Paragon China Co. Ltd.
