This stunner of an Art Deco was produced by W.R. Midwinter Ltd., Burslem - one of the Staffordshire Potteries. It screams Art Deco with its green and gold hand-painted sparks coming off the eared rim and lid. Reminds us of the Ziggy Stardust persona created by David Bowie.
Standing on four feet, the sides rise from stepped bands which are reminiscent of the architecture of the 1930s. The rims and finial are finished in gold and a honey glaze covers the cream ground.
Approximate dimensions : 4.25" / 12cm high to top of finial
9.5" / 24cm max width
There is some rubbing to the decoration consistent with age and the finial may have been refixed at some time.
A fabulous piece for your dresser.
Backstamp used pre war in 1932.
