Information

This superb Serving Bowl carries the long-retired pattern Apple Blossom, which is becoming hard to find.

Produced between the 1940s and the 1950s.  The name Athena refers to the fluted body shape.  The top rim is decorated in a pale shade of blue-green.  Towards the bottom of the bowl is a silver gilt ring.

Johnson Brothers, Hanley - one of the Staffordshire potteries - began production in 1883.

Four grandsons of the Master potter, Alfred Meakin, were eventually involved in the company :  Alfred, Frederick, Henry and Robert.  The firm joined the Wedgwood group in 1968.
