A stunning bone china duo decorated with a black swag transfer print to the rims and edges. Embellished with rich gilding to the rims, edges, handles and the cup foot.
I am tempted to call this breakfast duo a bachelor piece. It is striking in its masculine appeal and form and also by the size, weight and curve of the saucer.
George Procter & Co, at the Gladstone Pottery - one of the Staffordshire Potteries - produced this fabulous set in Longton. They operated from 1891 - 1940.
Some minor rubbing.
Approximate dimensions :
Cup 3" / 78mm
Saucer 6.125" / 155mm
The backstamp for this glorious duo was used from 1924 until the business closed in1940 and thus covered the entire Art Deco period.
Backstamps include maker's mark and gilder's mark. Pattern number 1202.
A stunning set.
