A dessert or fruit bowl and five dishes by Doric China. Decorated by hand on a white ground in the Imari palette of iron red, orange, green and cobalt blue,
The items have been hand-finished with rich gilding to all edges and also to the surrounds of the panels around the rims. Vestiges of a concentric gold band to the inside bottom of the smaller dishes can be seen.
Firing grains. Age-related crazing and some minor staining on these 90 year old+ items.

This set would look so pretty on any table, not so much to serve your desserts, but to present your grapes or bananas in the larger dish and your nuts, olives, sweetmeats or chocolates in the smaller ones perhaps ?
The items were made by Doric China, Longton, one of the Staffordshire Potteries. Backstamp marks include three for the Transfer, Painter and Gilder. Maker's mark in use from 1926-35.
