A stunning Dartmouth Pottery dark brown gurgle jug from this famous South Devon factory.
The original gurgle jug was made in the 1880s by Thomas Forester and Co and later by Grimwades but it is the Dartmouth Pottery version made in the 1950s that has become world famous.
Early jugs were made in either white clay or finished in green. Advertising at the time referred to the gurgling noise they made when poured as ‘a novelty that always attracts attention.' Gurgling jugs were also made to promote Plymouth Gin for the Black Friar's distillery.
Seen in a variety of colours our impressive glossy dark brown version is in tip top condition.
