Information
A lovely winter scene by Aynsley, this 1984 Christmas Plate called 'Woodcutting' is by designer Lawrence Woodhouse,   It is the second plate in a series of four depicting scenes for the festive season.  The family are out in the snow and cutting logs for the fire.

Made of fine bone English china, the plate is designed to be seen in a display cabinet.  It has a scalloped edge which is decorated with mistletoe and holly and surrounded by a hand-gilded rim.

The pottery firm of Aynsley was established by John Aynsley in Longton, Stoke in 1775.  In 1861 his grandson, also called John Aynsley, built the renowned Portland Works in Longton, Staffs. Aynsley china is synonymous with high quality, strong and brilliantly white bone china.
